Booking a Tattoo
If you are interested in booking with me, the following guide should outline any questions you may have. Please read thoroughly before filling out the inquiry forms further down the page to avoid any confusion.
-
The links found at the end of this guide lead to my inquiry forms; there is one form for inquiring about a custom tattoo, and a seperate one for flash pieces. Once completed, these will be sent to my email where I can review them. This does not guarentee an appointment, and simply allows me to review your idea before booking you in. I have the right to deny any booking request, but the most common reason is that I simply don’t think I would be the right artist for your piece. If this is the case, I may refer you to another artist that would better suit your idea.
If you do not hear back from me right away, please give me some time as I have dedicated days to admin tasks. However, if its been over a month and you have not heard back, please send me a seperate email at hutch.the.heinous@gmail.com. I will never intentionally ignore you, but unfortunately things sometimes slip through the cracks, my forms bug out, etc.

Please note that I have the right to turn down a design for any reason. Ideas and designs that allign with my style are likely to be prioritized, but I can do other things and am willing to make exceptions depending on each individual case. Things I prioritize include:
Blackwork
Ornamental
Dark Fantasy
Folklore
Stylized Portraits
Nature and Foliage
Creepy Crawlies
Animals
Medieval
Horror
Creatures
Large Projects
Colour Pieces
I am open to doing colour pieces, but I have a specific colour palette I like to use, and don’t do a lot of solid colour packing (with very rare exceptions). The pieces with colour in my portfolio are good examples of the style of colour I will accept.
-
You can browse my currently available designs here, or on my “available” highlight on Instagram. Flash pieces come as is, and will not be changed. If you want a custom piece based on one of my flash pieces, I am more than happy to do something similar for you! Flash is first come, first serve, and will only be tattooed once, UNLESS its a repeatable flash piece. These pieces can be tattooed on multiple different clients.

If a piece is particularily complex, or I want more info, I may book a consultation prior to booking your appointment. Consultations are free, and usually take no longer than half an hour. During the consult, I may need to take pictures of the location, so please try to wear clothing that allows for easy access to the spot. Consults are a great time to show me extra reference photos, sketch, and bounce ideas off of one another.
In my custom booking form, there is an option to request a consult should you want one. Sometimes a design is hard to explain, and I totally understand if you just want to have a session where we can chat about it to ease any uncertainty. If you select no on the form, I may still require one after reviewing the design.
-
My current rate is $140 per hour with a $100 minimum. For larger pieces, I often split the piece into 2 sessions; 1 for lineart, and one for shading. Payments are done at the end of each session, and I accept cash (though I do not have change) or e-transfer at the moment.
I do not currently take deposits, but may implement them in the future. For now, please be respectful of my time and let me know if you need to reschedule at least 48 hours before your appointment. Multiple no-shows will result in me requiring a deposit from you in the future.
Flash pieces are pre-priced. However, if a flash piece ends up costing a lot more than it would have if I had charged my hourly, I will drop it to the hourly equivalent. If you want the flash piece to be larger than the minimum size stated, the set price will be raised to accomodate.

I try my best to have designs sent to you the night before your appointment. If you require any adjustments or changed, I am more than happy to do so up until the point I’m actually tattooing you. I will not tattoo anything on you that you’re not 100% happy with. If you are having any doubts, we can do a pseudo-consultation the day of your appointment. If there are lots of changes and adjustments, I may need to reschedule your appointment depending on what else I have booked for that day. To avoid this, it is important to be as thorough as possible in the form and during our consult (if we had one).
For large or complex projects, I may send you a concept sketch to confirm I’m working in the right direction. Concept sketches will be very rough, and will focus on confirming shape, composition, and placement. Concept sketches are not entirely true to the final design.

Please get a good night’s rest before your appointment, drink lots of water, and make sure you are clean. Ensure you come to your appointment wearing clothes that allow me to access the area- black is recommended to avoid visible ink stains should the area get a bit messy. If the area has long hair, please trim it down. You do not need to do a close shave, as I will shave an prepare the area during your appointment. Make sure you eat a good meal at least 3 hours before your appointment.
Avoid drinking or consuming any recreational drugs 14 hours before your appointment. Alcohol is a blood-thinner, and excessive bleeding will dilute the tattoo ink, which makes it very difficult to tattoo. If you are under the influence, I will not tattoo you.
Please also double check to see if any of your medications are bloodthinners, as this will have the same effect as alcohol. I will not tattoo you if you are pregnant, have recently given birth, or are breastfeeding, as it is recommended to wait at least 9-12 months after giving birth before getting a tattoo. Though not super common, infections do happen, and can be detrimental to your health during these times.
-
You MUST be 18+ in order to be tattooed by me, no exceptions. I will not accept parental consent.
Please bring a valid piece of government-issued ID, such as:
A valid BC drivers license
A valid BC services card
A valid passport
I will not accept:
Any expired ID
Student IDs

Moles and Blemishes
You may notice that tattoo artists often avoid tattooing directly over moles or certain blemishes. This is for your safety, as tattooing over them would make it almost impossible for a doctor to access any change that could identify issues such as cancer. Its no biggie, and often doesn’t impact the appearance of the end result in a way that is super noticeable.
Scarring amd Stretchmarks
If you have any scarring or stretchmarks in the area, please attach images when directed to in the form. In order or me to safely tattoo over a scar, it must be completely void of any purple or pink discolourations. Sometimes, super old scars still have a bit but as long as its over 2 years old, you should be fine. Scars can take a long time to heal, and tattooing over it before its ready will lead to futher scarring. Stretchmarks on the other hand are typically very sensitive and require extra care and time to tattoo. They often become very swollen and red, and are more likely to require a touch up session once fully healed.
Exzema and Psoriasis
It is important to consider if you have any skin conditions that could effect the tattoo process. Some conditions, like exzema, make it incredibly hard to tattoo. If your exzema-affected skin feels very rough, thick, and flaky, it is likely not tattooable at that time.
Another condition to consider is psoriasis, as it can be triggered by trauma to the skin. Psoriasis is your skin working overtime to produce skin cells, and leads to different variations of thick, scaly, itchy skin. I personally have psoriasis, and have never had a flare up after getting a tattoo or piercing, but it is something to be aware of. Like exzema, if the area has flared up, I will not be able to tattoo it, and we will have to rebook.
If you are prone to skin conditions like psoriasis and exzema and you have a flare-up on the day of your appointment, I may need to assess whether or not its mild enough to tattoo, or if we need to rebook. It is best to let me know before hand if your are having a flareup so I can rebook you prior to you coming in. I totally understand that this can be out of your control and is frustrating, but postponing will ensure the end result of your tattoo heals properly and looks the way you envisioned it!

You will be laying or sitting down for long periods of time. I have two pillows to help with comfort, but you may want to bring a sweater to drape over yourself should you get a bit chilly. You are also more than welcome to bring headphones and zone out. I’ll likely ask you whether or not you’d like to chat during your appointment. If being quiet makes things easier and more comfortable for you, I may also pop on some headphones for myself.
Our studio is small, and on busy days it can get a bit tight. If you want to bring someone along to your appointment, please limit it to 1. We have extra chairs that they can pull up and chill in during your appointment.
If we’re looking at a longer appointment, we will stop for a snack or lunch break. Please bring some food to refill your stamina. There are also lots of food places close to our shop, and you are more than welcome to order in or go for a quick walk to pick something up.
